After some pondering and thought and a bit of discussion with various people about the following, I realized that I had made up my own mind and feel that the following should be enacted with appropriate measures to ensure a continuance of peace and harmony. (pls its the pfw)
So I am going to start off with the more... eh... controversial matters. The nasty stuff that we will probably be debating for on ends—if we don't ponder it prior to opening our mouths. (lmao al srsly then y propose it) Here is the thing, the reason we came to the following shift in direction is because we realized that we have not and probably will not any time soon have much user growth. So SID (Shift In Direction) was proposed in order to fit the needs of the last of a dying breed, the expansion into new worlds a d dimensions, and if this is the way we are going, differentiating ourselves from being the family friendly site we supposedly are then I suppose this is a good start:
Part I — Cursing
Section I — Chat
AHAHAHAHAHA THE HEADERS IN MY LONG PROPOSALS HAVE RETURNED! That's right you are in for a ride, my friend. We shall begin our controversialness with the simplest and easiest thing to consider. A place where users can interact without messages staying there long and is a sorts of social interaction platform: Chat. Anyone who does not realize that the site we are is one of those who are (mostly) mature young adults by now is either A- Confused by the ones who do not fall into this category or B- Confused by the way we act at times, no less though to have fun. That being said we are not only older than that of which you can establish an account here but significantly than the age of which you may establish an account. If I gave a rough average age calculation I would probably get around the figure of 16. That is just essentially a fact at this point. Which is why I propose the following: Allowing the rest of the dictionary of words only sailors use. Cursing, Swearing, Cussing—what you call it. What we would establish is the following:
- Swearing is allowed so long as it is not a racial slur.
- Swearing cannot be used as an insult to another user.
- Don't excessively swear.
"Excessively" But Al what would excess mean? Well if you asked that then I have the answer. It isnt going to be a "Rapper's Delight" (Just take 10 seconds of Lil Wayne and you got Rapper's delight). I would suggest the standards be something like that of a PG-13 movie rated PG-13 due to some language, if not Argo language in terms of how often. We are all able to by now conduct ourselves in a more civil way and it should by now be assumed that we can be mature and abide by measures set out in stone so this place continues to be as peaceful as can be. This is why I propose this clause.
Section II - Mainstream Wiki
woah woah woah woah woah. woah, woah, and woah Al. That's like the equivalent to like, anarchy bro. Well in the past that is what it would have been had we passed such legislation but unlike then we are going to have measures in place in which we can maintain the structure and order of our site. While technically there already are, they are not heavily enforced but can easily be changed so that it may be heavily enforced and as usual, peace may flow and take its course on this site. We will be establishing the following by the passage of this clause:
- A very apparent warning page banner or notice must be added to the top of the page should it contain a form swearing.
- Swearing cannot be allowed in comments unless it is quoted and censored.
- The page should not have excessive swearing on it.
Everyone is always talking about how swearing being allowed could damage our already damaged reputation as a site across the network and you know, it is fine to think that way thus why the following measures can be established after the passage of this clause. It would severely minimize the visibility of swearing by a mile so for any of you "family friendly" people, it is thus there and crafted for you and your genuine concerns. There is a way in which we will not be anarchy if this were to be all applied.
Part II — SID Game Additions
Section I – Pirates of the Burning Seas
ANNNND ON TO THE SECOND SECTION! (no pls) It would be kind of stupid for this to be an Albert request without it having additions to the site that are yet to be added. Thus, I begin with a more obvious and clear suggestion to add (when I say suggestion I mean like, passing this means it be legal pls) to our subjects of editing and that is Pirates of the Burning Seas (POTBS). It is basically as close as you can get to #Roots as it is set in the Caribbean/West Indies, and in the same time frame with of course Piracy amuck. We by technicality already have some POTBS content on here, Bane Family Photography. I urge the Administration to allow the addition of the Burning Seas as a decent amount play and can make fanon on it.
Section II – Minecraft
Minecraft, or Meinkraft, or MC is the #1 most played game on here and has no general theme as it is completely customisable in terms of theme and technical functions and coding. The openness of developing said things makes it endless possibilities and thus can fit close to our home if not our home can be completely created with it. Seeing as Minecraft is much larger and more diverse than POTCO or POTBS combined I would like to request the following items be allowed as a base:
- Server pages of servers owned by users be allowed, much like the POTCO server pages like Andaba or Antik.
- Server pages of servers played by a large portion of the sites users.
- Character pages be allowed of characters owned by users, much like pirate pages.
- Production of fiction on servers that are allowed on the site.
- Role-play similar to that of the Country RP or Island RP structure have as minimal as possible administrative intervention.
The above will help form a base to begin Minecraft fiction/fanon on our site and we can begin to build activity. While there are various other things that can be added, for the time being this will suffice as we see the creation of articles.
Section III – Assassin's Creed
The Assassin's Creed franchise is a popular franchise in the gaming community and amongst various users on here and due to this I would like to propose the allowance of fan fiction of this franchise on here. Since the franchise is now at all really modern (with the exception of small sequences in which in some game(s) you come back to present day Earth) and so far the furthest in the future it goes is the French Revolution, it stays within the timeline of our #Roots with many other games set in the American Revolution, Times of Piracy, long ago Venice, etc. (Don't kill me my knowledge of AC is minimal).
Section IV – The Elder Scroll
If anything, not only is it not futuristic but puts us before in terms of technological advances compared to the timeline of Earth (aka TES is another world and if we compared it to Earth's history we would be allowing things from before POTCO Times). It is also a relatively popular franchise amongst users here and is set in medieval times.
Section V – My Little Pony
OKAY GUYS COME ON BRONYISM IS THROUGH THE ROOF IN THIS PLACE!!!! THIS IS JUST FREAKING OBVIOUS! PASS THIS THE END! LEGENDS OF EQUESTRIA FTW BEST MMO EVER <3
Part III –Miscellaneous
Section I –1 Admin Seal of Approval (1ASA)
Seeing as things like servers may be found every now and then and well you need an Administrator's approval for the creation of a category, I would like to propose that we enact a system on the SSC or separate from it. 1ASA essentially is a proposal area for things that aren't major votes and are simple things like categories or the approval of servers added to the site. It would keep the SSC less heavily impacted and further sort such requests. Should much of this pass, I believe that this would be used enough to be efficient as it is no longer a one topic site. Only one admin would need to sign off on it and it is all good.
Section II –Name Change & Cosmetics
I would like to additionally propose to change the name of our site seeing as we are now not just one but multiple topics and propose we rename the site Pirate Players Wiki (PPW). I suggest this name since its acronym would be one that reminds us of our old name, the POTCO Players Wiki also known as PPW. Pirates Players Wiki would suggest that we play games, but not tailored to a specific one and allows there to be vagueness. In addition to the name change I also would like to ask the Administration for a new theme with more integration of games that will be allowed on here after the passing of this legislation so it better represents our site. In my own opinion should this section be passed, we should attempt to stick to old colours of our site but not hesitate to change some so it can be new and old at the same time.
Conclusion
So will that being said and done, while this conclusion doesn't exactly explain every detail, it wraps it up very well. We would be enacting the following (should all sections be allowed):
- Swearing is allowed so long as it is not a racial slur.
- Swearing cannot be used as an insult to another user.
- Don't excessively swear.
- A very apparent warning page banner or notice must be added to the top of the page should it contain a form swearing.
- Swearing cannot be allowed in comments unless it is quoted and censored.
- The page should not have excessive swearing on it.
- Allowance of POTBS Fanon
- Allowance of MC Fanon
- Server pages of servers owned by users be allowed, much like the POTCO server pages like Andaba or Antik.
- Server pages of servers played by a large portion of the sites users.
- Character pages be allowed of characters owned by users, much like pirate pages.
- Production of fiction on servers that are allowed on the site.
- Role-play similar to that of the Country RP or Island RP structure have as minimal as possible administrative intervention.
- Allowance of AC Fanon
- Allowance of TES Fanon
Alloance of MLP Everything Fanon- Creation of 1ASA
- We will be changing the name & theme of the site.
I urge the Administration to pass all of it though as in my opinion we would be able to create a more enjoyable environment for our current users and base. It will also be a great step forward as we possibly expand our topics in the future.
