The Vilayet of Istanbul is the governing administrative body for the region of Istanbul in the Ottoman Empire. Containing the eponymous city of Istanbul, the capital and largest city of the Ottoman Empire, the Vilayet of Istanbul is the wealthiest and most notable of all the regions of the empire. There is no current sanjak (governor) of the vilayet.
