Menorca is an Island off the coast of Spain, and a part of the Baleric islands. After being captured in the War of Spanish Succession, the Island became a British possession.
History
Invaded by Britain's Royal Navy in 1708 during the War of Spanish Succession, Minorca temporarily became a British possession. Britain took possession in 1713 under the terms of the Article 11 of the Treaty of Utrecht (along with Gibraltar ). Under the governorship of General Richard Kane the island's capital moved to Port Mahon, and a Royal Navy base was established
