The Independent Writers Union was founded in May 2016 to support indepdent writers without a publishing label to help promote their works wiith others who could use help in getting their works known. It strives to actively take part in the annual Oscars.

The Independent Writers Union is a non-profit production organization that features and publishes works of writers that are members of it.It is always accepting members into it whether they are apart of a publishing company or not. Its only rule is to not have other publishing labels on works submitted to the IWU to support the Independent Writers Union and its cause to be non-profit and purely fun measured.
